A way in which we strive to not put extra pressure on the planet, but add value to it instead. For example by producing more renewable energy than we need - and give the surplus back to society. This is something Royal Schiphol Group have been working on for many years and will continue to work on. 
With increasing demand on energy infrastructure it is critical that we support a flexible and even distribution of electricity across the grid, preventing overloading in specific areas and ensuring a stable power supply. Royal Schiphol Group see it as our societal responsibility to take a leading role in this.
Therefore, we are launching a new initiative, where we are exploring how we can use our EV chargers for load balancing.
Load balancing supports the integration of renewable energy sources by accommodating their variable outputs, contributing to a more sustainable energy system. By optimizing energy use and improving grid stability, load balancing helps mitigate the impact of high demand and promotes a more resilient energy infrastructure.
What we are offering: 
We are offering the chance to become our partner for a pilot, where we will test the technical and financial feasibility of using EV chargers for load balancing. We have 750 EV chargers available for the pilot. If the pilot is successful we want to scale in to other asset classes and additional EV charging infrastructure.

At TenneT we are at the heart of the Dutch and German energy transition. We are working hard to expand our transmission capacity and support the electrification of industry, transport and households, enable the growth of renewable energy production and connect our customers. To make it happen faster we need radical innovation.
Periodic inspections are key to assess the health of our assets and monitor the surrounding environment to identify potential hazards. Contemporary inspections however, are resource intensive and limited in scope. We believe that the digital transformation of our inspection and monitoring efforts holds immense value potential that can not only improve our resource allocation, but also boost our grid capacity, prolong our asset life and enhance safety and reliability. 
<h3>Challenge details</h3>
We are looking for software solutions that generate valuable insights and enable data-driven decisions from data gathered through smart inspections of our overhead transmission lines.
The primary objectives of this challenge are:

Integrated solutions that comprehend both data acquisition and analysis may be considered, but we have a strong preference to be able to split the two and focus our challenge on the data analysis part. The data input your solution should be able to incorporate may be based on various acquisition methods ranging from advanced sensors both remote and direct, automated aerial and ground-level inspections and increasingly advanced inspection tools to support our personnel.
We envisage modular, flexible and expandable building blocks that are integrated in our own data platform and facilitate increased data availability, unlock data synergies and support automation.

Our plan is to launch a Proof of Concept for promising solutions within two months to demonstrate their value and prepare for full-scale implementation if successful.

The Overhead Line Inspection Data Challenge

Challenge overview: 
In the wake of the energy transition, the demand for expanding and upgrading local electricity grids is skyrocketing. At Stedin, a leading Dutch grid operator, we face a pressing challenge: How can we improve the ergonomics of the workforce tasked with laying, upgrading, and maintaining these critical infrastructures? We're on the hunt for innovative tech solutions that can make a real difference, from proven methods applied abroad, to concepts that have worked in other industries, to completely fresh and untested ideas. Your solution could redefine the future of our workforce, preferably within a timeframe of four years or less.

The challenge unpacked: 
Our workers are the backbone of the energy transition, but they're stretched to their limits. The physical strain from battling the elements, handling increasingly cumbersome materials, and working in cramped conditions is taking its toll. With an aging workforce and a shrinking pool of qualified personnel, it's more crucial than ever to find ways to make this work accessible and sustainable for everyone - including the less physically endowed.

What we're looking for:

We are looking for proven technical solutions for realizing radical acceleration in the construction of local electricity networks.&nbsp;
As a result of the energy transition, local power grids require ever-increasing expansion and capacity upgrades, while qualified technical personnel are increasingly scarce. Alliander currently spends €1,2 billion per year on this effort and expects this number to grow if it is to keep up with demand over the coming years.
Currently, typical activities for expanding and upgrading include installing secondary substations, increasing the power of transformers in secondary substations, laying and installing low voltage (0.4kV) &amp; medium voltage (20kV) cables and realizing grid-to-home connections.&nbsp;
In the current way of working, we have identified various activities that take a lot of time and/or require highly specialized personnel, such as:
<ul>
<li>assembly of cable joints and plugs</li>
<li>cable selection / cable identification in the performance of work</li>
<li>power cable installation</li>
<li>We are interested in solutions that enable acceleration and that can be applied quickly (proven in practice). Ideally, the solution proposed can be easily implemented in our current way of working.</li>

Additionally, Alliander also operates several high-voltage (50&nbsp;kV) grids.
The distribution grid (10 kV and 20 kV) has a meshed design and is operated radially. It fully consists of underground cables. The MV grid connects both MV customers (up to 2&nbsp;MW each) and secondary substations, feeding the low-voltage (LV) networks.
The LV grid (400 V) has a radial design and operation. It fully consists of underground cables. The LV grid connects to 3.2 million households and businesses.

As part of the transition, we expect fast growth in the market share of Electric Vehicles (EVs). The charging infrastructure for this fleet of EVs can either be a huge burden to the grid, or it could be a balancing force that can provide both stability and future use of electricity in mobility and other applications.
In order to facilitate a bidirectional EV network, we need to design and facilitate a platform and new business models that will enable this, in close cooperation with all stakeholders including governments, users, car manufacturers, EV charging operators etc. We are looking for international projects that have developed bidirectional charging networks that provide smart charging solutions enable grid stabilization. In the analysis we want to learn about the Business Models, the ecosystem design and the regulatory foundation that will enable the change.

A world in which global climate change has been slowed&nbsp;down. ENERGINET DATAHUB: WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF DATAHUB?
The purpose of DataHub is to ensure uniform communication methods and standardized processes for professional participants in the electricity market in order to stimulate competition and optimize market conditions for electricity consumers. Every piece of information about the electricity consumption of Danish consumers&nbsp;is stored in DataHub, which also handles business processes, such as change of address, change of supplier etc. DataHub has the capacity to process metered data and business processes for all 3.3 million Danish electricity consumers meeting points. For instance, when grid operators submit readings for a metering point to DataHub, it transfers the information to the applicable electricity supplier, who is then able to bill the consumer.

Call for Solutions: Bidirectional EV Charging (V2G) Technologies for Grid Stabilization

<h4>General information</h4>
Local energy systems aim to “add” a local layer to the electricity grid which locally matches electricity supply with demand. We welcome any solutions or services with the potential of contributing to the realization of such a system. Key stakeholders include energy companies, local energy users, local energy producers, distribution system operators, the transmission system operators, municipalities and society. 
<h4>Requirements</h4>
The system should be able to cope with unexpected situations, such as changes in demand, supply or a high voltage grid failure
<ul>
<li>A proven solution</li>
<li>Applicable for the Dutch energy grid ​</li>
<li>Meets the Dutch DSO design criteria – Reliable, Safe and Accessible to everyone </li>
</ul>
<h4>Background</h4>
Due to the shift in energy generation from top-down to a multi directional system, electricity flows are constantly changing. This creates challenges for the Dutch energy grid. At this point, the&nbsp;grid is not fully prepared for these future changes in demand that can potentially knock the&nbsp;system out of balance.​ 
Creating local energy systems where energy is generated and consumed locally could serve as a potential solution for this problem. Existing local energy system examples operate and optimize energy flows on a local level, with challenges in domains like pricing, and distributing the benefits to different stakeholders. Optimally balancing individual local energy systems versus connecting these systems to the grid will result in a more stable, affordable and futureproof system. 
<h4>Next steps</h4>
After the deadline the challenge owners will review the applications and select the top applicants for a virtual selection day beginning of July. During this selection day the selected applicants will get the chance to present their solution with representatives of Stedin, Alliander &amp; Enexis. Afterwards, the top candidate(s) for the challenge may be invited to participate in a pilot to test their solution in the field with one or multiple participating firms.
<h4> Challenge owners</h4>

Together with an alliance of three Dutch distribution service operators; Alliander, Enexis and Stedin, we are looking for innovative and/or collaborative solutions for tackling (parts of) the challenge of creating resilient local energy systems, while focusing on creating value for all stakeholders and society in a fair way.

Local energy systems

<h4>General information</h4>
Energy consumption is increasing due to the energy transition and electrification (e.g.&nbsp;electric vehicles, use of heat&nbsp;pumps, electric cooking, etc.).&nbsp;Furthermore, energy is increasingly being generated on a decentral level by PV&nbsp;panels. These trends combined create complex energy consumption profiles that are difficult to predict.&nbsp;Therefore, we are looking for solutions that help DSOs in predicting customer consumption based on the&nbsp;underlying behaviour and intent. These customer insights can support in optimizing the energy system and&nbsp;maintaining a stable and reliable energy system.&nbsp;​ ​ Some potential (not limited) lines of thought are:&nbsp;​
<ul>
<li>Which external data sources influencing energy consumption and supply, can help us simulate consumer&nbsp;behaviour on a small scale (PC4) and how can it help to predict future supply and demand?​</li>
<li>Can we identify customer behaviour patterns in energy consumption and show how this varies between groups&nbsp;of customers? For example, is a certain customer group more likely to buy energy management solutions?&nbsp;​</li>
<li>Can we identify patterns in (groups of) customers that are more likely to choose solutions increasing demand or supply of electricity on a specific location such as solar panels,&nbsp;electric vehicles, solar boilers, heat pumps or air conditioners etc?​ </li>

<h4>Next steps</h4>
The challenge owners will select the top applicants, who will be invited for a virtual selection day. The top applicants will get the chance to share their solution with representatives of Stedin, Alliander &amp; Enexis. Afterwards, the top candidate(s) for the challenge may be invited to participate in a pilot to test their solution in the field with one or multiple participating firms.

Together with an alliance of three Dutch distribution service operators; Alliander, Enexis and Stedin, we are looking for solutions that can help better simulate grid load based on customer profiles and predictions on short (0-3 year), mid (4-9 year) and long (&gt;10 year) term.
